1. We chose this topic of mountain men because when we were entering into our field experience this was the next social studies topic of our classroom. But it seemed boring for a digitial story. So we decided to spice things up a bit and add Dora and Boots from Dora the explorer to help explain Mountain Men.
2. We found that our idea worked. Once we found pictures for Dora and Boots, and for the mountain men our ideas made us so excited. The frustrating part or the part that didn't work came with the microphone and the volume of the voice. But it turned out pretty well :) .
3. We would use this to introduce a little on mountain men and get the unit started. I think the kids could definitely relate to a cartoon and find it more enjoyable than a teacher explaining it.

Welcome

Welcome to fourth grade!! This is an exciting year in school, especially in social studies. We are learning about Utah this year!! While engaged in our Utah studies I will be posting different websites that one can go to such as http://uen.org for more information. Under K-12 and then by selecting Utah Resources one could find many great sites for Utah's history. Being from California, I am excited to learn of all the rich history and culture behind Utah. By the end of the year we will have big portfolio's of special things that we did and learned throughtout the year. I am excited to start today on this fun and exciting journey.
